Time to get real with y’all

Hormones acting crazy again… not sure if it’s the 40s or perhaps the extra cheat-meals, nibbles and red wine🤦🏽‍♀️
I can either beat myself up like I did the past few months or can do something about the extra roll that grew around my belly…always, ai Murphy🙄 5.5 kgs of bodyfat to be exact around belly alone- two new born babies 😨
Look, I have no intentions of becoming a bikini model, but I do want to be healthy and that is why it’s Time to clean up my diet again – this time I’m not afraid- but lets just be honest… I just had a harsh reminder of how real that struggle is… it’s still freakin hard- so to hell with motivation- I got enough of that. This requires serious commitment- but I know I can do it.
🔽🔽🔽 So this is what I’m doing to get rid of this hormonal belly fat for good and ‘reset’ my hormones 👆 Btw it’s only Day 2 and instead of feeling grumpy and lethargic, I’m feeling better already..for realz😻
Let me stop babbling and share… keep reading only if you might be struggling with insulin resistance or hormonal weight gain…🔽🔽
✔️Go Low Carb Cutting back on carbs improves insulin resistance and as a result may reduce cortisol as a result. Less cortisol means better fat metabolism.
✔️Increase protein in hour diet Protein influences the release of hormones that control appetite and food intake. Research has shown that eating protein decreases levels of the “hunger hormone”, ghrelin and stimulates the production of hormones that help you feel full.
✔️Get MORE sleep Been slacking on my sleep and staying up late and up early…because that’s what mommies do. But do get enough (about 8 hours) as it reduces the burden on your adrenals.
✔️Up my Cardio A major exercise benefit is its ability to reduce insulin levels and increase insulin sensitivity. Now, I do my fair share of resistance and free weights training but I am adding a 1 hour walk on maximum incline about 4 times.
✔️No more cheating I’m putting the cheat-meals and snacks far away…for at least 21 days (I will take it 21 days at a time) So no more merlot, pasta, pizza, chips and carrot cake…it doesn’t count as a vegetable 🥕😔 Indeed, avoiding or minimizing these foods may be instrumental in optimizing hormone function and avoiding obesity, diabetes and other diseases. Studies have consistently shown that fructose can increase insulin levels and promote insulin resistance, especially in overweight and obese people with prediabetes or diabetes…been there 😐
✔️Set a reminder to take my oral contraceptive. Boy, oh boy, I’ve skipped so many times- my gynecologist is upset with me as I am seriously making matters worse if I continue to do so. It’s not intentional 😞 but I’m making an effort now 😎
✔️I have decided to like green tea 🍵 😋 Consuming green tea boosts the metabolism, increases insulin sensitivity and lower insulin levels in both healthy people and those with insulin-resistant conditions like obesity and diabetes🤔
✔️I’m getting my Magnesium on! 🙌🏽Why? It helps balance your Blood sugar – magnesium helps to control insulin production and reduces sugar cravings, as such preventing blood sugar spikes. This is vital when it comes to healing hormonal issues like PCOS. It’s also a great sleep-aid 😴 sleep 💤 just what I need! It’s a win-win! 🤚🏽 I’m taking Slow-mag effervescent tabs. 👌
✔️Stress less Not quite sure how I’m going to tackle this one as I meditate daily and live a pretty balanced life with a heart filled with gratitude. Maybe, I’m stressing because I wear my heart on my sleeve and sometimes care too much of what others think of me🤔 or I just care too much- period. I’m working on that(caring less) but maybe I’m just not built that way. 🌷Aaah, got my answer- I’ll just pray and praise a little more! 😃
Despite the fact that aging and other factors are beyond your control, there are many steps you can take to help your hormones function optimally.🌸
Consuming nutritious foods, exercising on a regular basis and engaging in other healthy behaviors can go a long way toward improving your hormonal health.
I hope this helps 💖
