I know that being overweight may not be all your fault.
If you carry most of your weight around your belly and have actually tried losing numerous times only to your utter disappointment, you could be insulin resistant…but let me tell you this- don’t get caught up in labels. I have heard a few people say that they could never lose weight because the doctors told them that they were insulin resistant…So was I! I kept using it as an excuse without really trying.
When started my weightloss journey I wasn’t actively trying to reverse my insulin resistance- I didn’t even think it was possible, but the moment I cut out highly processed carb rich foods I started seeing and feeling the difference. These processed carb rich foods like cakes, crackers, breads and biscuits result in high release of insulin and sadly the higher the amounts of insulin you have circulating in your body, the harder it becomes to burn body fat.
So, if you find it almost impossible to lose weight despite your greatest efforts, it is worth paying your doctor a visit and start eating clean. Your body will thank you later.
Have a happy healthy Monday!
Ps. Yes that’s me, strutting my stuff in the streets of Dubai.
