How much should I eat to lose weight and have enough energy for exercise… hmmm… interesting question.
In the past I used to eat too little..(and cut out carbs… hehehe) and found myself so sluggish I could hardly do my job, let alone get myself to gym.
Yes, you may initially lose weight but believe me you will gain it back so fast because it is just not realistic nor sustainable.
I came across an article in WH covering exactly this and thought I’d share it.
There is a fine line between eating for energy and muscle recovery and eating to drop fat.
Weightloss will be a by-product if you’re burning energy at the gym, but shouldn’t necessarily be your goal over fitness, strength or endurance.
Don’t think that if you exercise more you will lose weight. The truth is it’s effect on weightloss is minimal as humans have a variety of adaptive and compensative mechanisms to make up for the energy burnt in the gym.
Your recovery goals should include a good night’s sleep, balanced meals consisting of all three macronutrients and rehydration. ✔️Sleep (8 hours are good) ✔️Healthy diet (choose good quality food as close to its original form as possible) ✔️Lots of water (at least 8 glasses… and not flavoured)
